What Influences YOU?

The human brain

We are influenced by everything we experience in our day. We are MORE influenced by the things we experience EVERY day. What influences YOU? Do you like how these influences are shaping you?

There are some influencers you have no control over, like advertising and commercials, that are pumped through media channels; or your family, some might compare them to mass media blasting. 😉

If you want to have more control over your subconscious and want to sit in the driver’s seat in your evolutionary development, here are some fun tricks to mess with your brain.

For the next month, CHOOSE what you feed your brain through:

  • What you read.

What we read is important because it is a direct link to our brain. When we read, we either consciously accept the information  or our subconscious steps in and accepts it for us. It is important to read more positive than negative, as this can impact our emotions and our outlook on life. Less daily news and more books on something you enjoy, will have a great impact on your perception. Try limiting daily news to 10 minutes a day for the next month and see if it raises your emotional barometer. (Try it)

  • What you watch.

TV quietly robs our time IF we are not careful and do not apply some amount of control. The Government has stepped in and advised us to only let our children watch 30 minutes a day, do you think they did this because TV is healthy? It is very common for us to get home from work and watch TV until bedtime, in doing so you lose valuable life time. Try cutting back on the TV time, plugging into your family and friends around you and watch your relationships transform.

  • What you listen to.

Music can offer a great emotional lift to our psyche. There IS a catch, listen to the lyrics of some of your favorite songs. The words in these songs are important, and can impact your daily experiences. Try incorporating songs that have lyrics that coincide with feelings and experinces you want to be having. If you are always listening to depressing love songs, what are you likely to experience?

  • Who you spend time with.

You can’t ditch your math teacher or a co-worker, BUT you can choose to surround yourself with positive friends and people that love you unconditionally. It is true that who we spend the most time with, influences the person we are. Choose friendships that allow you to be who you are and who make you feel good about it.

By choosing what influences who, you can more actively choose your life experiences. If you want to change aspects of your life, try to find what is influencing those areas and make changes by incorporating new influencers. Life pretty much lasts a lifetime you might as well exert some control over it.

Unfair Advantage – Book Review

Bookshelf in the Rich Dad Studio

Unfair Advantage

by: Robert Kiyosaki

Unfair Advantage is Kiyosaki’s latest book. I have personally read all of his books and love his Richdad website (this is a disclaimer and a preview of my biased opinion – I love all thing’s Richdad).

This book provides a great history lesson on our current economy and how it is that we arrived here. Robert explains our rationale and approach when it comes to thinking about money. He describes the last decade and the financial flop of the dollar and the market, giving us insight into the next. He states, that many families that are in middle class are going to end up in the poor class, due to lack of financial knowledge. A rough read on reality.

Moving forward, he then teaches insights and gives advice on how to shift into the new reality of inflation and taxes, from employee to employer, from financial dependence to financial freedom.  Essentially, you will be handed a new pair of glasses to see the world of money through.

In Unfair Advantage, Robert teaches us different investment strategies and how to make the most of each investment class. He breaks them down into 4 categories and simplifies the process.

Throughout the book, he bases his conclusions on his quadrant theory and balance statement formulas. His main goal with this is to teach financial knowledge and in doing so he believes people can free themselves financially. He also provides guidance and how to applications, on moving out of your current quadrant into the more advantageous ones or upgrading your current standing, if you are already where it is that you want to be. He does this, by teaching about the various kinds of investors that you can strive toward becoming, with a strong case built on pro capitalism.

This book is an easy read and has a great question/answer format. His final piece of advice is to learn and gain as much financial knowledge and awareness, so that you can climb into an abundant future. Robert shares free and valuable information through his website, communities and through his latest GEO Program (Global Entreprenuers Organization), which was also introduced in the book. The only thumbs down I would give to this book, is that (to my knowledge and to Google’s) I was not able to find the GEO course or more information on it.

If you are like me and have read all of his earlier books, you will love this one too and like a zombie chasing people, you are going to want to see what the GEO program is all about. This is a great eye opening book, you will be thankful that you took the time to inform yourself. If you are curious and want to know what is going on in the world that is now, you will love the insights and knowledge that you gain from reading Unfair Advantage and you will understand why Robert named the book as such. Enjoy your unfair advantage.

PS: Such a Great Book! You should DEFINATELY read it! And if you have read it, feel free to post comments.
